Department of Psychiatry offers various courses such as:

Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in Psychiatry
Each course is for a duration of three years. The Department of Psychiatry of Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital was established in 1957. Initially it started functioning at Lok Nayak Hospital.When G.B. Pant Hospital came up in 1964, the department shifted there with both inpatient and outpatient facilities. University of Delhi started its first batch of M.D. (Psychiatry) in this department in 1983, admitting 2 students each year. It provides tertiary health care to people from Northern India. The department imparts training to both undergraduates (MBBS) and Postgraduates (MD Psychiatry). Admission to MD in Psychiatry is through “Delhi Post-Graduate Entrance Examination". It is a premier center for both funded and unfunded research projects. Apart from general psychiatric care, it provides clinical services in child psychiatry, adolescent psychiatry, psycho-geriatric disorders, substance use disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder and psycho-sexual disorders.

Department has its own library, psychological laboratory, research lab, provision for Electroconvulsive therapy, etc.

The department of Philosophy is one of the oldest in the University of Delhi. It began as a combined department of Philosophy and Psychology in the year1953. Department of Psychology became independent in 1962. Since then the Department of Philosophy is an outonomous department.
At present, instruction in the Department of Chemistry is mainly at the M. Sc. Level and for the M. Phil. And the Ph. D. degrees. The Chemistry Department made an inconspicuous beginning, and progress was rather slow for the first twenty years. The teachers of the Department have been successful in attracting funds from national agencies like the CSIR, UGC, DBT, DST, Department of Atomic Energy, ICAR, ICMR, NRDC, DRDO, as well as private sectors like the Hindustan Lever Foundation and Ranbaxy laboratories. With the new multistorey building being made available, the department expanded rapidly in terms of both research
